A Modern Take on a Classic Dirty Martini

We’ve been looking into herbs and spices a lot through our Forage Your Own series. There’s something so animalistic about gathering your own ingredients whether it be simply from your own garden or from further afield. Of course you can buy most of them from grocery stores these days but where’s the fun in that? 

 

It is with this thought in mind that we bring you the delectable St. Dill Martini from Saveur Magazine. Although perfectly acceptable solo, we feel this cocktail is truly heightened paired with a bed of classic fresh oysters. The vinegary tang of the pickle will complement your noble mollusc to perfection while the mustard seeds add a surprise peppery finish. 

 

 

INGREDIENTS

2 oz. Snow Leopard Vodka 

1⁄2-1 oz. of kosher pickle brine

Splash of dry vermouth

10-12 mustard seeds

whole baby kosher dill pickle, for garnish

A large fresh sprig of dill, for garnish

 

 

METHOD

Place the Snow Leopard Vodka, pickle brine, vermouth, and mustard seeds into a shaker over ice and shake well. 

Skewer the dill pickle and add it to a chilled cocktail glass. 

Strain the martini into the glass and garnish with the dill sprig.
